Dear Parents,
The year is just flying by. . . It is almost November already, which means that it must be concert time! The Seventh Grade Band has been working hard to present an excellent performance for you. Attendance is required for students, and we hope that you will be able to attend as well. Here are the details:
What: BloomingtonJunior High School Fall Band Concert
Where: Bloomington Junior High School East Gym
Date: Tuesday, November 1, 2011
Times: Students report – Between 6:50 & 7:00 p.m.
(Report to the BJHS Orchestra Room)
Concert begins – 7:30 p.m.
What to wear: BJHS Uniform Jacket (provided by school)
T-shirt
Black Pants
Black Socks
Black Shoes
Students must be dressed in the uniform in order to perform in the concert. Performance in the concert is worth 50 grading points.
Uniforms are to be left at BJHS after the concert.
Thank you for all that you have done and continue to do to support your child’s musical journey. I hope that you have enjoyed listening to your child practice and the improvement we are making.
See you at the concert!
7th Grade Band members have several items due in the next few days – help remind each other to get everything done!
Due Thursday – Theory packet #1,2,3, and 4 (purple packet in your folder).
Due Friday – signed form (last page of big packet) should be turned in, you must have a nametag on your case (available upon request in the bandroom), percussionists should have a pitch pipe and timpani mallets, and you need to have your book by then (Accent on Achievement Book 2).
Please contact Mrs. Carnahan if you have any questions – we had a great rehearsal today, and band is off to a good start this year! 
Band class is unlike any other – it requires not only a great deal of individual effort, but also the effort from the “team.” Throughout your band experiences, I hope that you learn the fundamentals of music and playing your own instrument, but also the cooperation and joy that can be derived from making music with others.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns about 7th grade band. This is our band, not just yours or mine, and it will be most successful when we all work together!
