For just $10 you can preserve the memories of Oakland School by ordering your 2011-2012 yearbook. Orders (with payment) are due to school no later than Monday, April 2. 

Order forms will be sent home with students soon and are already available on our website.

Order now! Yearbooks will not be available at a later date.

It’s Book Fair Time!

Alien SpacecraftThe book fair has landed at Oakland School.  We have several days of exciting events!

Tuesday, November 15 is our Kids Free Book Fair Shopping Day from 3:45-5:00 pm.  Parents and friends are invited to stop by and shop for those “secret” purchases for birthdays, Christmas, and other special gifts.

Wednesday and Thursday during times selected by the teacher, each classroom will visit the book fair.  If you choose to send your student with shopping money, don’t forget to include a little extra for sales tax.  Parents are welcome to visit the fair anytime during these two days.

Thursday, November 17 is our Family Fun Night Event.  Dinner will be served at 5:30, 6:00, and 6:30 pm.  To assist us with planning, please be sure to RSVP by November 15. The book fair will be open from 5:30-8:00 pm. Great family activities are planned from 6:00-7:30 pm. Don’t miss out on all the fun!

If you’re booked up during book fair week, be sure to visit the fair online.  All orders ship to school with no shipping fee!  Orders can be placed online November 17-November 30.

Student Council is Sponsoring a Food Drive

October 30th, 2011

Please consider participating in our canned food drive for Home Sweet Home Ministries October 31-November 4. Your child is invited to bring in any non-perishable items and place them in our collection box in the lobby.

Needed items include: cereal, pasta, pasta sauce, rice, canned vegetables, boxed stuffing, macaroni & cheese, packaged fruits, and any box of instant food.

Show Your School Spirit!

Oakland spirit wear orders are now being accepted.  Short and long sleeve t-shirts, sweatshirts, and a tote are available. Orders (with payment) are due to school by Tuesday, November 1. 

Oakland apparel makes a great birthday or Christmas gift. If you would like your order to be a surprise, please write “GIFT” on the order form. You can pick up your order in the school office on November 21. All other orders will be sent home with students on the 21st.

 

Picture Retake Day is November 8th

Students may have their picture taken on retake day if:
   >a package was NOT ordered on picture day and you would like to order now (payment required) or
   >a package WAS ordered, but you weren’t happy with the photos (first package must be returned) or
   >your student was absent on retake day or
   >your student was new to our school since picture day.

All new orders will require pre-payment.

All retake requests and new orders (with payment) are due to the school office by 4:00 pm on November 7.

 

 

Fundraiser Product Pick-Up

For the families who participated in the PTO Innisbrook fall catalog fundraiser, order pick-up will be Tuesday, October 18 from 3:45-7:00 pm in the gym.

Barnes & Noble Bookfair Tonight!

October 13th, 2011

Join us for an exciting reading themed night at Barnes & Noble Booksellers on Thursday, October 13 from 4:00-8:30 pm.  At least 10% of each purchase will benefit Oakland’s Library Media Center; just show the voucher at checkout.

In addition to being able to purchase gifts for birthdays and Christmas, you can also purchase books for classroom libraries.  Many of the teachers will have a basket of pre-selected titles she/he would enjoy having in the classroom library.

All purchases made at the store between 9:00 am -10:00 pm will contribute to our fundraiser.

Additionally, online orders placed between Friday, October 14 and Monday, October 17 also contribute to our fundraiser.  Visit www.bn.com and enter Book Fair ID #10552552 at the time of check out.

 

Orientation for Grades 3, 4, and 5

August 30th, 2011

Parent orientation for grades 3, 4, and 5 is tonight, Tuesday, August 30. Please come meet the teacher and learn about the curriculum and classroom expectations. Parents may choose to attend from 6:00-6:30 pm or 6:45-7:15 pm. Both fourth and fifth grades will gather as a grade level.  Each third grade teacher will be in her classroom. Due to space limitations, orientation is for parents only.

First & Second Grade Orientation

Orientation for parents of first and second graders is tonight, Thursday, August 25.  Please come learn about the curriculum, classroom expectations, and special events.  Parents may choose to attend from 6:00-6:30 pm or 6:45-7:15 pm.  You will need to attend one orientation session per child.  Due to space limitations, orientation is for parents only.
