Mrs. O’Grady

August 9, 2011
Hello!  My name is Erin O’Grady and this is my eleventh year of teaching - ten of those years have been at Stevenson.  I am a graduate of Illinois State University’s undergraduate and graduate special education department.  I also became a National Board Certified Teacher in 2008.

Throughout my years of teaching and learning I have come to understand the importance of developing independence and self-reliance in children.  In my classroom I work to develop children’s abilities in academics, self-help skills, behavioral skills, communication, and recreation.  My classroom is set up in a structured format that allows for individual and small group instruction, independent practice, and larger group activities.

In my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband, our dogs Hershey and Benny, family, and friends.  Running os a hobby of mine and I have completed two half marathons.  This year my running has been on hold because my husband and I will be welcoming a new baby to the family at the end of September.  When time allows I enjoy reading, cooking, swimming, and boating.
